1. God runs His universe with words. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible (Heb. 11:3). God co-created everything with our Lord Jesus Christ, who is also called The WORD. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made (John 1:1-3).
2. The Word of God holds the universe together. And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (cohere, are held together) (Col. 1:17 Amplified). The Word of God keeps the earth 93 million miles from the Sun. The Word of God keeps the galaxies in place. The word of God holds you together. Once there was a rebellious man in our church who drew a group of about a dozen people after himself and began to oppose the vision of the Lord for our church. He and most of this group left the church at a critical time when I didn't think we could afford to lose anyone. I was crying out to the Lord in prayer about the situation. And I told the Lord, "Lord the enemy is going to tear the church apart." The Lord reminded me that He holds all things together (Col. 1:17,18); that he is head of all things to the church (Col. 1:18); that He is the Rock on which the church is built (Matthew 16:18); and that I needed to change my confession. I repented. I changed my confession. He showed me that a pastors confession over His flock is very serious. It is vital that a pastor speak the blessings of the Lord and the will of the Lord over the flock of God. The Lord replaced the rebels, and the church ended up being better and stronger than before. The Lord saw something that needed to be purged from His Church. The next time you think the world is falling apart, or the next time you think your world is falling apart, remember who holds all things together. People's lives fall apart when they forsake the one who holds all things together. When they get close to Jesus their lives become very "together" again. Do you remember the nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty? You might feel like Humpty Dumpty, who had a great fall or a great attack, and that you'll never be the same again. Even though all the Kings horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again, The King Himself can. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lord's, that is. King Jesus can put anything the enemy has torn apart back together again, and make it better than new, including you and me. 3. The Word of God Destroys Opposition. At the time of the rebellion I mentioned above, the Lord taught me that my confession can either aid the enemy or attack the enemy. I decided to use my mouth to attack the enemy. I spoke against Satan and his forces of darkness. I found scriptures that promised me the victory and I spoke them in faith against the enemy. I spoke blessings over our church. David did the same thing. Jesus defeated Satan that way. David didn't allow the word of his enemy to prevail. When Goliath spoke, David spoke contrary to what Goliath spoke. David spoke what he was going to do to the enemy. Oppose the enemy with the Word of God and you'll defeat him with the Sword of the Spirit. The Word of God is more powerful than the atom bomb. Goliath was beheaded by the Word of the Lord's purposes, spoken by the Lord's warrior, before he was beheaded by his own sword. Speak to your opposition. Tell the enemy where he's going. Speak his defeat. You have authority over him, use it Luke 10:19 says, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
